Diamond and Gemstone Certification in Nicosia

A fine diamond or gemstone deserves an expert, scientific examination. The Cyprus Gemological Laboratory (CGL), operating from our premises on John Kennedy Avenue, examines diamonds, coloured gemstones and jewellery using advanced gemological instruments, including Raman spectroscopy, an electronic gemstone spectrometer, UNOscope screening and short-wave and long-wave ultraviolet testing.

The laboratory is led by Aris Tsiropoulos, Professional Gemologist (International Gem Society) and holder of the Gübelin Academy Coloured Gem Professional diploma, with decades of experience with fine stones.

What We Examine

Diamonds

Grading of loose natural and laboratory-grown diamonds according to the 4Cs, with identification of natural versus laboratory-grown stones.

Coloured Gemstones

Identification and analysis of sapphires, rubies, emeralds and other fine gemstones, with detection of treatments and, where possible, an opinion on geographic origin.

Fine Jewellery

Examination of mounted stones without removing them from their settings, with identification of diamonds, gemstones and precious metals.

Estate and Inherited Jewellery

Jewellery Appraisal Reports stating an estimated retail replacement value, for insurance and family records.

Certificates and Appraisals: Two Different Documents

CGL Certificate

Issued for a loose diamond or gemstone. It describes and identifies the stone, but does not state a price.

CGL Jewellery Appraisal Report

Issued for jewellery. It documents the piece and states its estimated retail replacement value on the date of examination.
